6 Things to Do in Bogor that You Will Probably Never Do Ever Again!

April 28, 2016 by admin

Bogor, Indonesia is a lush paradise teeming with thousands of botanical species. It is located on Java Island south of Jakarta. It is located in the valley of the volcano Mount Salak. In addition to its beautiful landscapes, Bogor offers 6 surprising things you probably will not do ever again.

Bogor Travel

Mongolian Camping with a Modern Twist

This is definitely something you probably won’t find elsewhere in the world. You stay in Mongolian tents, or Yurts which are rounded tents traditionally made with animal skins stretched over wooden frames. While the original Yurts moved from place to place with the nomadic Mongolians, these tents are quite stationary and even have comfy beds to sleep on. Quite different from the traditional style but an experience nonetheless.

Live Like a Villager

Bogor Travel

If you prefer to stay somewhere more traditional, try staying in Bogor’s oldest village. According to some ancient Bogorian scriptures, this village has been around since the 7th century. While staying here, you can enjoy Sudanese art forms and see what everyday life is like in the village. You will also get to sleep in an old hut!

Swim in a Pool Created by a Waterfall

If you prefer getting in touch with nature, check out this naturally made swimming pool at the base of a waterfall. Called Nymph Waterfall or Curug Bidadari by the locals, it is truly a magical place to go swimming with its clear waters at the base of a waterfall. If you prefer a break from swimming, there is a sandy area right by the water.

Visit a Hindu Temple

Bogor Travel

While Indonesia is not the only place you can visit Hindu temples, this one is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Beautifully preserved this beautiful temple is called Pura Parahyangan Agung Jagatkartta. It has three different towers and sits on a slight hill giving it a majestic appearance. As a tourist, you can only visit the outer courtyard, but it is truly worth a trip.

Taman Bunga Nusantara

As mentioned previously, Bogor has an endless supply of gorgeous plants and flowers. Here you can see many of them house in a beautiful botanical garden. This botanical garden is unlike others as it has a maze you can wander through and creatively trimmed plants and flowers arrayed in festive patterns.

Go on an Indonesian Safari

Not many people can say they went on a safari in Indonesia and Taman Safari does not disappoint. It is fun for adults and children alike as you can interact with some of the animals. One of the more popular choices is to do a nighttime safari.

When you are not adventuring or staying overnight in a village, you will want a nice, comfortable hotel to return to. The Pesona Alam Resort & Spa is perfect for your stay in Bogor, as it is clean, comfortable, and relaxing. To find best hotels you only need to click here.
